Why Allah Tests Us?

Allah says in the Qur’an that life is a test:

“It is He who created death and life to test which of you are best in deeds, for He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.” (Qur’an 67:2)

In Islam, trials (azmaish) are not always punishments. Losing a job doesn’t mean Allah is angry, and getting a promotion doesn’t mean Allah is pleased. Trials are ways to test our faith (imaan), patience (sabr), and gratitude (shukr).

Two Reasons for Trials (Azmaish):

  • Elevation in Rank (Darja buland karna):
When we show patience and gratitude, Allah increases our reward and raises our rank in Jannah (Heaven).

  • Purification from Sins (Gunaahon ka maafi):
If we make mistakes but don’t ask for forgiveness, Allah may give us trials in this life to clean (saaf) our sins, which is a mercy.

What Should We Do During Trials?

  • Remember, Allah Knows Our Limits:
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.” (Qur’an 2:286)
Allah doesn’t give us more than we can handle. Instead of focusing only on problems, we should also notice the blessings (nehmat) we still have, like health, family, or faith.

  • Don’t Lose Hope:
“Surely there is ease after hardship.” (Qur’an 94:6)
Every difficulty (mushkil) is temporary and comes with ease.

  • Be Patient and Grateful:
    The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“If something good happens, a believer thanks Allah, and it’s good for him. If he faces difficulty and shows patience, it’s also good for him.” (Muslim)

Conclusion:
Trials are a part of life. They help us grow closer to Allah, clean our sins, and earn higher rewards. Always trust Allah’s plan, show patience, and never lose hope because ease always follows hardship.
